I am Rogier. I am a media composer, and voice-actor, and because these two passions come straight from the heart, naturally I combined them. As a noisemaker, I have always sang a great deal of melodies and noises into my music. But as a technologist, I have learned to digitally alter my voice to the point where it is now a massive instrument, and a versatile sound design tool. In a way, that makes me a cyborg-vocalist.
I graduated 'Media Composer' with honours at HKU in 2018. I live for the creation of a story, for the breath of life that enters a medium when great sound and great visuals meet. When the work of so many talented people comes together; when the final product transcends the sum of its parts, and when a newly risen story bats its eyelashes open for the first time: that's when art becomes art. That is when I'm satisfied. That is what I'll deliver.
As a teacher I try to use my storytelling as a tool to inspire a hunger for growth and knowledge. It is my honour to see a fire lighting in the eyes of students when something awakens in them that realises it has the power to create things greater than itself.
